Dear Polymaths,

Happy New Year! It's amazing what can happen in just a few months. For
instance, last June we had only 45 students and 99 supporters. Now, just
a few months later, we have over 250 students and over 800 supporters!
Thank you all for spreading the message. As exciting as this news is, we
have an even more auspicious announcement: we are ready to begin hiring
our first instructors. We are seeking creative, intelligent, and
inspirational individuals with both breadth of knowledge and subject
expertise to teach our next several online courses. Responsibilities of
the position are similar to those of an adjunct professor (but without
the need to hold office hours), and include formulating a course lesson
plan, recording and posting weekly audio or audiovisual lectures,
answering student inquiries, and grading submitted assignments (as
applicable). As the courses are offered online, this work may be
performed fully remotely. Compensation is offered per-course on a
semi-monthly basis, with each course running for 10 weeks.

Sound exciting? Interested in helping train the next generation of
polymathic leaders? Then fill out an application
<http://www.projectpolymath.org/teach.shtml> and let's get started!

Of course, new instructors imply new course offerings, so even if you
don't plan on teaching, keep an eye on our learning portal
<http://www.polymathlectures.org> over the next few months!

We have an additional piece of exciting news for some of you: we've
recently been contacted by a producer filming a documentary on 18th and
19th century German culture for the BBC and seeking to interview German
polymaths on topics ranging from "Bach to Bauhaus, Beethoven to the
Brandenburg Gate, Wagner to Weimar Classicism". Filming will take place
at the end of January and beginning of February. If you are of German
nationality and are interested in being part of this documentary, please
email Jess.Hartley at libertybell.tv <mailto:Jess.Hartley at libertybell.tv>.

Here's to a happy, healthy, and productive 2010!

Best Regards,
Michael Barnathan
